Education Department begins investigation

Shivamogga (Karnataka) – An incident has come to light in a Government School in Kammachi village here where a Brahmin schoolgirl was forced to eat an egg during mid-day meal. In this case, the girl’s father has filed a complaint with the Education Department against the school Principal and Assistant Teacher. Along with this, Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, Principal Secretary of Education Department, Deputy Director and local MLA were also informed about this. After preliminary enquiry, the Administration confirmed the report that the egg was served at mid-day meal; but he denied the allegation that she was forced to eat it.
Twenty-six children study in 2nd standard of this Government School, out of which ten students are vegetarian. The girl’s father V Srikanth is also a teacher in the same school. After his complaint, the Education Officer and the mid-day meal official also visited the school.
