NCERT booklet mentions flights of planes and other vehicles in the sky in India during the Puranic period

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has published a booklet to tell the students about the success of the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ mission !

New Delhi – The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently published a booklet to convey the success of the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ mission to students. This booklet refers to the Puranas of Hinduism. It says ‘planes and other vehicles used to fly in ancient times’.

The booklet was published after the Union Education Ministry instructed schools and colleges to celebrate the success of the Chandrayaan mission. The booklet mentions, ‘The aircraft and aerial vehicles have been researched in India since ancient times. References to this are found in the book ‘Vimanshastra’. Vedas are the oldest scriptures in India. In it, the Deities used chariots and those chariots could fly. The Deities used chariots to move around the earth, heaven, and space. Ravan’s Pushpak Viman (plane) is mentioned in the Ramayan. Vishwakarma created the Pushpak Viman from the dust particles of the Sun’.

Editorial Perspective

The publication of such a booklet by the Union Government’s Education Council is commendable! Now this Council needs to change its books to teach proper history and knowledge of India to the students.
