Demand to include women from backward classes in the Reservation Bill

New Delhi – An all-day debate was going on the Nari Shakti Vandan placed before the Parliament on 20th September. Through this Reservation Bill 33% of seats are reserved for women in the Parliament and States Assemblies.

Many parties have supported the Bill. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi asked to expedite the Bill while giving her support. She said further that her husband and former Prime Minister had brought the Bill first.

This Bill was placed before the Rajya Sabha also. At that time, Congress President and opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the reservation for the women falling under the OBC category.
