A packet of Chakote’s ‘Rusk’ with information in Urdu and English

Kolhapur (Maharashtra) – On the packet of ‘Chakote Premium Rusk’ (toasts), a product of Shri Ganesh Bakery, Nandani, the information about the product has been printed in English and Urdu. A few devout Hindu activists, distributors, and citizens contacted the office of Ganesh Bakery and expressed their displeasure over the same. Many people asked them reasons for the absence of information in Marathi on a product, though sold in Maharashtra, has its information printed in Urdu and English when the consumers are mainly from rural areas. The employees of the company replied that they had already received calls from many people in this context. The product is exported to Dubai; therefore, the information is given in Urdu. They also advised the callers not to get stuck in the language. The devout Hindu activists demanded that the company should not impose Urdu on the people of Maharashtra. The buyers of the products of this company are mainly from rural areas, and they understand neither Urdu nor English; therefore, it is necessary to print the information in Marathi on the packets of the Company’s products. The employee of the Company promised the caller to convey their demand to the Company’s management.
