Lahore (Pakistan) – A Hindu man named Akbar Ram from Pakistan’s Sindh Province was arrested on 11th August for allegedly insulting Islam. The Police said that his life was threatened by the angry mob. Arresting him saved his life.
This incident occurred in Rahim Yar Khan district of Sindh Province and a Muslim named Faisal Munir filed a Police complaint against Akbar Ram. He claimed that Ram came to his auto repair shop and made insulting remarks against Islam and Muslim pilgrimage sites. For this, Munir had taken two other witnesses with him to the Police station. Due to this, a case under the blasphemy law was immediately filed against Akbar Ram.
Police Inspector Safdar Hussain said, “When we went to Akbar Ram’s house to arrest him, many people had gathered outside his house. We brought the situation under control and took Akbar Ram into custody. The angry mob was demanding to hand over Ram to them”. According to local media reports, Ram’s family members have fled the village.
