During Adhik-Mas, donate money for food for Sanatan’s Ashrams, which have been striving to serve the Nation and Dharma, and get spiritual benefits besides accumulating merits !
Importance of donation as described in the Hindu Scriptures
The act of donation carries special significance in Hindu Dharma. One should donate money, food and clothes or share Jnan (Spiritual knowledge). Donation cleanses sins and helps accumulate merits. The Mahabharat tells us – There is no better treasure on Earth than the act of donation. Donation is considered to be our Dharma.
1. The extraordinary importance of donating food or money in place of food
Donating money for food is considered to be supreme Karma. According to Hindu Dharma, one who earns money for a living and in whose house food gets cooked every day is obliged to donate food or money in place of food.
According to our Scriptures, if the donation of food is with noble intentions to one who deserves it, the donor gets the appropriate benefits; likewise, all his sins get cleansed, and he goes closer to the God Principle. If food is donated, the donor also gets benefits at the spiritual level.
