New Delhi – Around 718 people from Myanmar entered illegally into India on the 22nd and 23rd of July through the Manipur border. Because of this laxity, the Manipur Government has ordered the Assam rifles to submit a detailed report on this matter. The order specifically asked ‘How were so many people allowed to enter India without proper documents ?’

The Government has further ordered the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for Chandel District to take photographs and fingerprints of these people. This influx of people is highly suspicious, as this has taken place when Manipur is already steeped in violence and riots for over 2 months. Who are these people and do they have weapons with them ?, he asked.
