Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – ‘Why is the tolerance of the Hindus always tested ? Luckily the Hindus did not break any law while expressing their opposition to the film’ observed the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench, rebuking the Film’s Producers. The Court expressed the above comment while hearing a petition about the insertion of objectionable dialogue in the film. The Court has directed that the films co-author Manoj Muntashir Shukla be presented as client in this case. The Court has asked that the notice be answered with a week of its being served.
The points made in its notes by the Court while expressing its dismay
1. Is it correct to try the patience of the good people ? It is good that it was done regarding a religion whose followers do not create problems for the public and administration. We should thank them. In the news, I read that some individuals went to theatres and made them close the film. They could have done many other things too.
2. This petition is about the way this film has been made. There are some Holy texts that are venerated. Many read the ‘Ramcharitmanas’ before stepping out of the house. The petitioners are saying that the story of Ram is changed completely in the film. It is denigration of Dharma.
3. Has the Censor Board fulfilled its responsibility ? What is the message they want to give society by showing Hanuman and Mother Sita inappropriately ? The Deities Hanuman, Shriram, Lakshman, and Mother Sita have been shown as if they are nothing (ordinary people).
4. The Court while asking for a response from the Solicitor General, has called it a serious matter. You should ask the Censor Board how this happened ? Because State Government can do nothing in this matter.
5. Speaking about the disclaimer about the film given by the film producers, the Court said, do the people who are giving a disclaimer think that the youth and the citizens of this country are fools ? You show Ram, Lakshman, Hanuman, Ravan and Lanka and say this is not ‘Ramayan’ ?
Editorial Viewpoint
The Hindu’s feel that the Courts should take stringent action against the concerned persons, such that henceforth no one will dare to insult Hindu Deities, and Hindu religious text. |
