Amalner communal riots
Amalner (Maharashtra) – In Chinder Galli of Safar Galli here at night, a fight broke out between the boys over playing cricket resulting in violence while religious fanatics resorted to heavy stone-pelting at Hindus. (There is nothing wrong if someone thinks that religious fanatics are always prepared for stone-pelting, hence the Police should randomly raid their houses to investigate. – Editor)
As soon as the Police officers came to know that ‘stone-pelting is occurring’, they immediately reached the spot. At that time, religious fanatics attacked the Police personnel and officers with stones, bricks and tiles. Irfan Zahur Dildar attacked Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Singh with a sword resulting in fractured leg. The Hindus also retaliated the rioters. Section 144 has been implemented here and curfew has been imposed for 2 days. A large Police force is patrolling the streets at night.
After the stone pelting in Chinder Galli, riots spread elsewhere in the city. Incidents of heavy stone-pelting between Hindus and Muslims in the areas of Pankhidki, Khadajin, Subhash Chowk, Gandhipura have been reported.

Hindus are in such a situation that they take the beatings but not defend themselves ! The Police should realise that if the Police had created a deterrent against the religious fanatics, the Hindus would not have to defend themselves.
The religious fanatics also pelted stones at the Datta Temple in Tiranga Chowk in Athwada Bazar area. As soon as the Hindu youth came to know about this, they came out to defend the temple, but the police stopped them The Hindu youth expressed that there is no use of the Police. The Police stop Hindus; but they cannot stop the Muslims.”
