Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) – There has been tension in Uttarakashi after a Muslim youth abducted a minor Hindu girl. Posters warning, ‘Muslim shopkeepers should vacate their shops by 15th June’, have been put up at different places. This has led to Muslim shopkeepers fleeing the city while others are afraid of opening their shops. These posters have been put up in the main Purola Market in Uttarkashi. Police informed that the posters have been removed and investigations are on to find who put them up. (The Police should show the same promptness to ensure that incidents of Love Jihad do not take place. – Editor)

On 27th May, local shopkeeper Ubed Khan and his accomplice Jitendra Saini were arrested after being charged with the abduction of a minor Hindu girl. Local citizens say that this is a case of Love Jihad. The incident even led to attacks on some Muslim houses.
