Have shut down 600 madarasas in Assam; will close another 300 madarasas : Himanta Sarma, CM of Assam

Karim Nagar (Telangana) – Till now we have shut 600 madarasas in Assam. This year we will close another 300 madarasas informed Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam. He said this while speaking at the Public Meeting in Karimnagar. He said we do not want madarasas, we want schools, colleges, and universities. He also said that ‘we are doing this to prevent ‘Love Jihad’ happening in Assam.

In January 2023, Chief Minister Sarma said we want to decrease the number of madarasas in the State. We want to give ordinary education in the madarasas and we want to begin the process of registering the madarasas. To this end, we are working with the minority community, and the minority community is cooperating as well. Earlier Sarma had remarked at a Public Meeting in Karnataka that ‘People from Bangladesh enter into Assam and endanger our civilization and culture.
