Former MP Anand Mohan, serving life imprisonment in Bihar jail, will be released

New Delhi – Former MP Anand Mohan, serving life imprisonment for killing the District Collector of Gopalganj in Bihar in 1994, is to be released. The alteration of the jail laws, on 10th April by the Coalition Government of Janata Dal (United), Congress, Communist and Rashtriya Janata Dal paved the way for the release of Anand Mohan. Chetan Anand, the son of Anand Mohan is the MLA of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the Government. Due to this alteration, 26 other accused will also be released.

  • BJP said that if Anand Mohan can be released, the Government should release the thousands languishing in jail for drinking liquor.
  • Anand Mahan said that he had served his sentence completely, and the decision of Anand Mohan’s release was under the supervision of the Supreme Court and the High Court.
  • Ms Uma Devi, the wife of late Krushnaiyya, criticised the release of Anand Mohan and demanded that Anand Mohan’s release should be opposed.
