Imphal (Manipur) – Tribal agitators vandalised and set fire to the Chief Minister’s event venue in Manipur’s Churachandpur the night before his event. Local leaders are leading the tribals who commit violence. These tribals are said to be Christian converts. According to the decision of the BJP-led Manipur Government, a survey of reserved and protected forest areas for tribals will be conducted. The tribal forum alleges that the State Government is demolishing the church on the pretext of this order and the converted tribals are protesting against it. As part of this protest, they vandalised the venue. The Police beat them up with sticks. Now curfew has been imposed there.

First build an illegal Church and when action is taken on it, take the law into own hands and vandalise the venue of the Chief Minister’s programme. This behaviour shows the arrogance of the converts. Manipur Government must take strict steps to eradicate this lawless mentality. |
