Murshidabad (Bengal) – Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers were attacked by Bangladeshis goons, smugglers and infiltrators on the India-Bangladesh border on 26th February. This happened at night in the area of Nirmalchar Post 35 Battalion in Berhampore sector. Over 100 Bangladeshis were armed with sharp weapons. They snatched the guns from the soldiers and fled to Bangladesh. Two soldiers were injured in the attack. The BSF submitted a complaint to Border Guards of Bangladesh regarding this incident. A flag meeting was also called in this matter.
Two #BSF jawans were attacked and their weapons snatched allegedly by Bangladeshi farmers who sneaked into India to graze their cattle in #WestBengal‘s #Murshidabad district on Sunday, a statement said.

Indian farmers in Berhampore area complained that Bangladeshi farmers were destroying their crops. Therefore, the BSF put up a temporary post in this area for their security. In the past too, there have been attacks on Indian soldiers.

Editorial viewpoint

Aren’t the Indian soldiers at the border allowed to open fire when they are attacked by armed miscreants ? If the Indian soldiers are being beaten up and their guns being taken away, then why are they deployed at the border in the first place ?
