Indian farmers in Berhampore area complained that Bangladeshi farmers were destroying their crops. Therefore, the BSF put up a temporary post in this area for their security. In the past too, there have been attacks on Indian soldiers.

Editorial viewpoint

Aren’t the Indian soldiers at the border allowed to open fire when they are attacked by armed miscreants ? If the Indian soldiers are being beaten up and their guns being taken away, then why are they deployed at the border in the first place ?
