Fanatic Muslims resort to violence opposing erecting Mahashivaratri arch-gate at Palamu (Jharkhand) !

• Stone-pelting at Hindus from mosque; stone pelted at mosque in retaliation
• Houses, shops and two-wheelers set on fire

Palamu (Jharkhand) – Hindus tried to erect an arch-gate in the background of Mahashivaratri at a Masjid Chowk in Panki of Palamu District in Jharkhand due to which fanatic Muslims attacked Hindus leading to violence. Houses, shops and two-wheelers were set on fire and stones were pelted from the mosque. More than 18 people have been injured in this violence including Dy Superintendent of Police, Alok Kumar, and a few Policemen. A large Police force has been deployed in the area.

1. Mahashivaratri is celebrated in Shiva Temple on Rahevir Hills in Panki every year. This year, Mahashivaratri is on the 18th of February. In this background, an arch-gate was to be erected at Masjid Chowk and the workers reached with the material for erecting the arch. Local Muslims, however, stopped them and said that arch would not be allowed there since there was a mosque. This led to arguments and later, the workers left the place. (This is Muslims’ tolerance and secularism ! Where do those secularists, and progressive activists hide at such time ? – Editor)

2. On the following day, some people again reached the Masjid Chowk for erecting an arch-gate when Muslims too gathered there. Police reached when they got the information and tried to hold discussions between the two arguing groups. At this time, a Muslim hit Niranjan Singh, a member of the temple committee on his head with a stick causing a wound and thereafter, violence started. Both groups started pelting stones. Stones and cold drink bottles were pelted from the mosque. The shops near the mosque were set on fire. The Police called for additional force and brought the situation under control. Now, Section 144 has been imposed, and the internet is shut down in the area.
