Stone-pelting in Muslim majority area during Saraswati Idol procession in Jharkhand

• Two Police and some Hindus wounded !
• The attack was pre-planned !

Jamtara (Jharkhand) – The incident took place in Dokadih village on Friday evening when Muslims refused to allow the immersion procession to pass through their locality, they said they did not want the procession accompanied by loud music.

When Policemen tried to convince them, the Hindus agreed but the Muslims started pelting stones from rooftops, in which two Policemen were seriously injured. Following this, the Police resorted to firing in the air to disperse the crowd. A Police officer said the attack was pre-planned as the stones were already kept on the rooftops. Then the Idol was immersed under Police protection.

Processions of other religions are not attacked but Hindu processions passing through Muslim majority areas are always attacked. It is humiliating that the Hindus have not been able to stop these attacks on their religious processions by the Muslims !
