Islamabad (Pakistan) – “Can you tell the people what value you place on your martyrs ? How many soldiers were martyred in Kargil, and how many bodies of soldiers did you bring back from there ? You handed over the bodies of your martyred soldiers to Hindus, and a statement came from India saying, ‘We performed their last rites according to Islamic customs.’ Different figures are being cited, but the number runs into hundreds. You handed over the bodies of your soldiers to Hindus. We received the body of Colonel Sher Khan only after India insisted. It was only after India told you to do so that you accepted his body. You insulted your martyred soldiers and are now trying to use them as a shield to conceal your own crimes,” said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, in a scathing and forthright criticism of the Pakistan Army.

He further said that all the power was being used solely to strengthen political control. “Pakistan is an institutional country, and the jurisdiction of every institution is clearly defined there,” he added.

Maulana Rehman has stated nothing but the truth. Pakistani soldiers had infiltrated Kargil in the guise of terrorists and were killed by the Indian Army. However, Pakistan had refused to accept their bodies, claiming that they were not its soldiers. The Indian Army subsequently buried the bodies.
