| The Muslims in a functioning Democracy of India is 11% of the world’s Muslim population. None of the 57 Islamic countries has a secular Democracy. This is because the principles of Islamic culture do not support Democracy. The creation of Islam has a tribal background. Judging from its inception, Islam has depended on barbaric power established through dreadful battles. The heirs of Islamic power have come through acts of treachery, poison, sword, murder, hangings, or coup d’état. Therefore, a society under the rule of Islam is not suitable for Democracy from the social and intellectual point of view. |

1. Country that has Islamic rule is a dictatorship rather than a Democracy
If we look at history, all leaders in Islam have been dictators and invaders. The invaders include Khalid Labn Walid, Tariq bin Ziyad, Saladin Ayubi, Ghori, Muhammad, Ghaznavi, bin Qasim, Alauddin Khilji, Timur. Muslims also name their children after these medieval invaders. Political parties are banned in Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates. Indonesia, a country of 27 crore (13% of the world’s Muslim population), was a dictatorship till 1998. Although there is Democracy on paper, it is ruled by clerics who have an unhealthy mentality. Hence, democratic principles do not have enough room. Pakistan has been ruled by the military since the Partition of India. Bangladesh has Martial law and clerics. So there is no complete secular Democracy.
2. Islam does not subscribe to the concept of Democracy
There is no sect whose leader has had a status like Prophet Muhammad, who is honoured more than Allah. Therefore, the Islamic society needs evolution and change in its religious dogma to accept the principle of ‘one man one vote’. Muslims are less troublesome when there is authoritarian rule. Democracy is not suitable for them.
Gaddafi, Shah of Iran, Gamel Nasser, Anwar Sadat, Zaheer Shah, Saleh of Yemen and Saddam were dictators of countries like Libya, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Uganda, Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the last 50 years. In these countries, people are under control and there is general harmony. They do not accept the concept of Democracy of America and western countries.
3. Muslims are unhappy with Democracy
Islamic rule consists of an authoritarianism in which the one who has influence over the people (according to the Qur’an) has the sovereign right to rule. Today, we call it Martial law, where there is no head count, but beheading. The civil structure of Muslims values central authority, which includes wealthy leaders with political influence, the military, or leaders who consider themselves as Gods.
Muslims live happily in countries that are ruled by dictatorships and do not have democratic systems. Muslims in India have always been unhappy with the democratic system in India, because it is not acceptable for them to have freedom of thought and speech and equality among citizens. This practice (Democracy) never existed in 14 centuries of Islam.
