
New Delhi – Incidents of violence by radical Muslims were reported on the occasion of Holika Dahan and Dhulivandan in various states across the country. This violence took place in states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and others.
Uttar Pradesh
1. Police officials were attacked with shoes and slippers in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, during the world-famous Laaṭ Sahab procession. Bricks and stones were also thrown at them. When the Police attempted to stop this, the stone pelting intensified, forcing the Police to resort to lathi charge for self-defence.
2. Stones were pelted at Police officials during a Holi procession in Unnao, injuring three policemen. In Mathura, a dispute over applying colours led to ten people getting injured.
3. Intoxicated hooligans caused chaos during the Holi procession in Ganj Muradabad, Unnao. When the Police tried to intervene, they were attacked with stones, injuring three officers. The Police had to use force to control the situation.
4. In Bati village of Mathura, radical Muslims pelted stones over a dispute related to applying colours, injuring ten people. The Police arrested seven accused in connection with the incident.
5. In Ranhera village of Jewar, a riot broke out on the day of Holi. After a minor dispute, radical Muslims engaged in violent clashes, including stone pelting and firing, resulting in five injuries.
6. In Dhampur, Bijnor, radical Muslims assaulted people over a disagreement regarding playing with colours.
7. In the Veer Shah Hazari area of Moradabad, a BJP leader was shot by a youth after refusing to embrace him on Holi, injuring two people.
8. In Rathoda village, Baghpat, a dispute over playing Holi led to radical Muslims storming into a house and shooting a youth dead.
Himachal Praadesh

On the day of Holi, former Congress MLA Bumber Thakur was shot dead in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. Four unidentified assailants fired at him while he was playing Holi. The attackers shot 12 rounds at him.
Jharkhand

In Ghorthamba, Dist. Giridih of Jharkhand, radical Muslims committed acts of violence during a Holi procession. Several shops were set on fire, and many people were injured in the clashes. Given the tense situation, additional Police forces have been deployed in the area.
