Savarkar used to work for the British against the Congress : Rahul Gandhi’s inane words

Vashim (Maharashtra) – During his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “Vinayak Damodar Savarkar used to take a pension from the British and worked against the Congress. After coming out of jail, he accepted the British proposal and joined their forces”. Rahul Gandhi is being criticised for his statement. Many Hindu organisations and followers of Swatantryaveer Savarkar have condemned Rahul Gandhi’s statement.

I spoke the truth, what is wrong with it ? : Rahul Gandhi

Reacting to criticism, Rahul Gandhi said, “There is nothing wrong in what I have said about Savarkar. I have presented the historical truth only. Savarkar had written a letter to the British seeking forgiveness, and I am firm on my statement”. (What else can one expect from Rahul who lacks in study ? – Editor)

Showing a copy of Savarkar’s letter seeking mercy, Rahul added, “Savarkar ji wrote in it : ‘I beg to remain, sir, your most obedient servant’. When he signed this letter, what was the reason ? It was fear. He was afraid of the British. Savarkar wanted even Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel to sign a petition like this”. Rahul Gandhi said that Savarkar betrayed the whole country.

Rahul Gandhi said that Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel were also imprisoned by the British for many years, but they never asked for their release. This is the difference between two ideologies. Rahul Gandhi wanted the letter to be shown to Deputy CM Devendra Fadanvis and RSS Chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat.

Arrest Rahul Gandhi : Mr Ranjit Savarkar

Seeking Rahul Gandhi’s arrest, Mr Ranjit Savarkar (Grand-son of Veer Savarkar and Executive President of ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak’) said, “In the past too, they have insulted Swatantryaveer Savarkar, so we have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi at the Shivaji Park Police station. A woman had made comments against Sharad Pawar and she was kept in jail for a month. Savarkar is a bigger leader than Pawar, and hence, strict action should be taken against Congress leaders. Rahul Gandhi should be arrested for making false accusations against Swatantryaveer Savarkar”.

Mr Ranjit Savarkar added, “As Bharat Jodo Yatra is not getting publicity, Rahul Gandhi is making such comments to get publicity. If Rahul Gandhi’s march is going to defame patriots, then it should be banned. Rahul Gandhi thinks that defaming Veer Savarkar would attract votes, but he does not realise that he is defaming a great freedom fighter. He has indulged in similar acts earlier”. Mr Ranjit Savarkar also criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) for not taking a stand on this issue.

Editorial Viewpoint

  • The Congress party was set up by the British before the Independence, and a leader of this pro-British Congress, criticising a staunch patriot like Veer Savarkar is very ridiculous !
  • Gandhi and Nehru always tried to appease the British; hence, they never faced action from the British. Whereas, Veer Savarkar was ready to sacrifice his life for his country; hence, the British tortured him. Will Rahul have the guts to present true history ?
