
Kolkata – There was massive violence and vandalism during the ‘Milad-un-Nabi’ festival in Mominpur, West Bengal. Several vehicles and shops of Hindus were vandalised. A tense situation ensued between the two communities throughout the area. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister demanding the deployment of the Central Forces.

According to information received from Police sources, violence broke out suddenly in Mominpur Ekbal, Mominpur, on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. People of a particular community laid siege to Ekbalpur Police Station. After this, the mob vandalised the vehicles parked on the road and the nearby shops. Bombs and stone pelting were reported at many places. Police personnel have been deployed in the entire area.
After the violence in Mominpur, BJP leader Dr Sukant Majumdar has posted a video on Twitter. In this he has alleged that people of particular community celebrating the ‘Milad-un-Nabi’ festival have vandalised the shops and vehicles of Hindus, while Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as usual, has let those people go free without taking any action.
