Several office bearers, including national President Oma Salam, arrested
terrNew Delhi – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided locations of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in 12 states across the country and arrested 106 people. The raids were in Delhi, Bihar, Bengal, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu etc. The premises of PFI President Oma Salam, Kerala, was also raided. Along with Salam PFI Chief CP Mohammed Basheer, National Secretary VP Nazarudheen, and national council member P Koy, have been arrested. A door-to-door search had been conducted, including the offices of PFI leaders at the State and District levels. Raids were conducted in 20 places in Maharashtra. In Madhya Pradesh, PFI offices were raided in Indore, while four persons were arrested from Ujjain. According to the sources, these raids were in connection with financing Jihadi terrorism.

1. This is the largest operation of the NIA so far, under which many PFI locations have been raided. Investigation agencies are raiding the homes and offices of individuals funding terrorism, organising training camps and promoting radicals to join banned organisations.
2. PFI offices in Hyderabad and Chandrayangutta of Telangana, and Tamil Nadu were sealed. PFI workers have started a protest against the action in Tamil Nadu.
