A protest held against Sheikh Hasina at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi

Demand with Indian Govt to putting in efforts for protecting Hindus in Bangladesh

New Delhi – Sheikh Hasina, PM of Bangladesh in on a visit to India. To highlight the continuous persecution of Hindus and Buddhists, agitation was held at Jantar Mantar by Hindu Sangharsha Samiti, Prabashi Bangyio Samaj and All India Refugee Front. At this time slogans against Sheikh Hasina were shouted. As per the census of the population of 1974, Hindus were 13.50% in Bangladesh; whereas in the census of 2011 it came down to 8.20 %.

Agitators were saying that, Sheikh Hasina was taking undue advantage of the goodwill and cooperation of India and encouraging Islamic fanatics in Bangladesh. Slowly she was trying to implement Muslim Personal Law in Bangladesh. Therefore she is financing ‘Hifaz-e- Islami and ‘Islami Andolan Bangladesh’. Therefore 640 mosques have been built by her in the nation. Most among these mosques are being built illegally on gaining control over lands belonging to Hindus and Buddhists. We hope that the Indian Government will make the PM of Bangladesh see the whole situation very clearly like in a mirror and will ask her to take stringent steps to protect minorities.

Editorial viewpoint

Why are such demand and agitation required at all ? Centre only should take the lead in this regard.
