Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The row over Veer Savarkar’s poster in Karnataka escalated further on 21st August after the Hindu group Sri Ram Sene launched a campaign to place Savarkar’s idol or photo along with Shri Ganesh’s Idol in the upcoming festivals.
Sri Ram Sena said they are set on informing people about Savarkar in more than 250 Ganesh mandaps across the Vijayapura area. Sri Ram Sene workers said they decided to send various books on Savarkar to Congress leader Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah recently faced the ire of the activists of a right-wing group for his alleged statement questioning the need for the Hindutva activists to put up Savarkar’s photograph in a Muslim area in Shivamogga.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai spoke on the incident that took place on Independence Day and said, “Whenever an incident occurs, we investigate it according to the law. Everyone’s pride matters, we have provided the opposition leaders with the required security. Upholding peace in a State is the responsibility of all the parties”.
The Education Minister B.C. Nagesh has permitted schools to celebrate the Ganeshotsav.
