On average, one and a half lakh Indians give up Indian citizenship every year

The USA is the first choice of many !

New Delhi – According to the statistics given by the Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in the Parliament, on average, one and a half lakh citizens are giving up their citizenship of India every year. Their first choice was the USA.

1. Rai further informed that in the year 2021, a total of 1,63,370 Indians relinquished Indian citizenship and received citizenship from other countries. Out of which 78,284 Indians received citizenship of the USA. In 2019, 61, 683 Indians renounced Indian citizenship and received citizenship of the USA.
2. In the year 2019, no Indian accepted citizenship from Pakistan. 7 in 2020, 41 in 2021 received citizenship from Pakistan. In 2021, one person accepted citizenship from Bangladesh.
