Sitapur (UP) – Reshma, a former Muslim Sarpanch in Barra Berora Village in Mahmudabad Tehsil of Sitapur District, had built some toilets when she was Sarpanch. On 8th June some Hindu activists found that these toilets had tiles with pictures of Shivalinga and other Hindu religious symbols, so they filed a complaint. It led to tension there. In view of the tensed atmosphere, Police were deployed in the Village. Police have registered a case against Reshma, her husband Buniyad and Nasimulla. The Police have arrested Buniyad and Nasimulla.

The tiles had been fitted in the toilets 4 years back. Sandeep Awasthi, the District convener of Bajrang Dal and a Police constable handling the case, said Reshma had laid these tiles in her previous tenure, and now she is re-elected. The tiles were fitted in all the toilets across the Village. After complaining about it, the tiles were removed from some toilets but are still there in some. Nupur Sharma’s statement is currently being protested all over the world. Those protesting should think, are Hindu religious feelings not hurt by such incidents too ?
