Two Muslim leaders’ groups from Trinamool Congress clashed in Malda (Bengal)

  • Crude bombs were used
  • Vandalised more than 12 houses

Malda (Bengal) – Two groups of Muslim leaders of the Trinamool Congress were involved in the violence and crude bombs were hurled at each other. More than 12 houses were vandalised. This created a tense environment. A large contingent of Police has been deployed on the scene, but no arrests have been made yet.

The violence took place at Gopalpur Balutola between a group of Trinamool Congress. Saifuddin Sheikh, a Panchayat Samiti office-bearer, led one group, and Nasir Ali, the party’s regional president, led the other group. Sabitri Mitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, said the two leaders had an old dispute over land. This has led to violence in the past. This controversy and violence has nothing to do with the Trinamool Congress.

 Editorial viewpoint

  • It is not surprising that workers of the ruling party in the Bengal State are indulging in clashes when the law and order situation is already out of control. It is unlikely that Mamata Banerjee will take any action against them.
  • Bengal is seeing attacks on Hindus, and it won’t surprise you if leaders of the Trinamool Congress are found behind them.
