25 people sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering two brothers in Kerala

The altercation started over collecting funds for a mosque

25 workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)  were sentenced to life imprisonment

Palakkad (Kerala) – On 13th May, the Palakkad sessions Court sentenced 25 workers of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to life imprisonment in a murder case of two brothers. The two were murdered in an altercation that started over collecting funds for a mosque.

According to the special public prosecutor (SPP) T C Krishna Narayanan, on 12th May, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajitha T H held the 25 accused guilty of the murder of Nooruddin and Hamsa, who were members of the AP Sunni party, a supporter of the Left front.  The Court also imposed a fine on each of the accused and the total amount will be paid to the victims’ families.

Kunju Muhammed, brother of the deceased was also attacked. However, he had escaped. He was the prosecution witness. Krishnan said the accused were also sentenced to three years imprisonment for the attack on the victim’s brother.
