7 held over IPL match-fixing charges

Hyderabad (Telangana) – In the year 2019, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested 7 players on charges of ‘Match fixing’ during the cricket tournament Indian premier league (IPL).  The players involved in this scandal were Dilip Kumar, Gurram Vasu, Gurram Satish, Sajjan Singh, Prabhu Lal Meena, Ram Avatar, and Amith Kumar Sharma. They were in contact with a Pakistani person called Vakas Malik. The agency said that they had suspected the involvement of Pakistan in this scandal.  This system of match-fixing has been done with the intention of affecting the results of the matches.

The agency also provided information that the accused would get directions, directly from Pakistan. The CBI has taken action in the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Hyderabad.

Editorial viewpoint

The IPL is a big money-making tournament, where many circumstances of wrongdoings have taken place; but till today we have never heard of the guilty being punished in any manner. Because of this inaction, such circumstances arise again and again. Why doesn’t the Government ban such expensive games that waste people’s hard-earned money ?
