Colombo (Sri Lanka) – The Sri Lankan internal turmoil has now claimed 8 lives and injured 200 individuals. An MP is also one of the 8 dead. It is also being claimed that ex-PM Mahinda Rajapaksa’s family has run away to India. The Indian High Commission has clarified that this news is false. The submission made by the Embassy said, rumours are being spread through the media and social media, that a certain Srilankan political person and his family have run away to India; but this is false news.

The ex-PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family are hiding in the Trincomalee Naval base. The agitators on hearing this news congregated near the base. And some agitators surrounded the Ex-Prime Ministers’ residence and threw petrol bombs at it, and burned some cars. There is a demand from the agitators to banish Rajapaksa from Sri Lanka. Opposition Leaders are demanding his arrest. The agitators have raised a post on the road to the airport to prevent the Rajapaksa family and his supporters from fleeing the country

Sri Lankan Army – There are no orders to shoot at the agitators
A piece of news went viral – Shoot the agitators at sight. This has been completely refuted by the Chief of Sri Lanka’s all three defence forces, Shivendra Silva, who said that the Forces will never take these steps. But a Country-wide curfew has been imposed to prevent violent agitation.
