DMK Govt revokes ban on Shaivite Mutt’s Pattina Pravesam

Madurai (TN) – The order denying permission to the Pattina Pravesam here in Dharmapuram has been revoked by the DMK Government of Tamil Nadu.  It has been allowed now. The customary event known as Pattina Pravesam involves the pontiff being carried on a palanquin in and around the Mutt premises by devotees. Mayiladuthurai District Revenue Divisional Officer J Balaji had banned the event citing apprehensions over Human Rights.

However, the Office Bearers of the Mutt decided to hold this event anyway. This event is going to be held on 22nd May.  Hindus had demanded that CM Stalin should intervene in this case.
