Hindus claimed that they carried swords to protect against any attacks like that in Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti.

New Delhi – Religious fanatics had attacked the religious procession on Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangirpuri in Delhi. Later a procession was organised by Hindu organisations on 17th April at Vikasnagar in Delhi. Many Hindus had participated in the procession with swords and sticks. When journalists questioned about it, Hindus said that they did not want any attack on their procession like that in Jahangipuri; hence, they were carrying the weapons for self-protection.
