Gandhi family should step aside from the leadership role : Kapil Sibal

Will it ever happen that Congress leader says something, and the Gandhi family listens ? The dynasty has been entrenched in Congress for the last 75 years, how can it end so easily ? It will certainly end with the Congress and the people will end it soon !

New Delhi –  Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal said the Gandhis should step aside from the leadership role and give some other person a chance. He said the Gandhis should “voluntarily move away because a body nominated by them will never tell them that they should not continue to hold the reins of power”. After a big defeat, on 13th March, a meeting of Congress workers was held, in which Kapil Sibal expressed his views.

Kapil Sibal further stated,

1. Congress leadership is living in “cuckoo land” if it is not aware of the reasons for the party’s decline even after eight years.

2. He is not surprised by the party’s defeat in the Assembly elections and the decision of the Congress Working Committee to reaffirm faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi.

3. A large number of leaders outside the Congress Working Committee have an entirely different point of view. There is a Congress outside the Congress Working Committee,  kindly listen to their views. Lots of leaders like us who are not in the Congress Working Committee but, in Congress, have an entirely different point of view. Is it that we don’t matter because we are not in the Congress Working Committee ? Therefore, the Congress Working Committee, according to them, represents the Congress party in India. I think that’s incorrect.

4. I cannot talk on behalf of others. It is purely my personal view that today at least I want a ‘Sab ki Congress’. Some others want a ‘Ghar ki Congress’. I certainly don’t want a ‘Ghar ki Congress’. And I will fight for a ‘Sab ki Congress’ till my last breath. This ‘Sab ki Congress’ does not mean just getting together, but bringing together all those people in India who do not want the BJP.

Why does Rahul Gandhi take decisions when he is not the president of Congress ?

Sibal said that Rahul Gandhi is not the president of the Congress, Mrs Gandhi is.  Before the elections, Rahul Gandhi went to Punjab and announced that Charanjit Singh Channi will be the Chief Minister. In what capacity did he take this decision ? He is not the president of the party, but he takes all the decisions. He is already the de facto president. So why are the congress workers asking him to take back the reins of power ?
