Panvel (Maharashtra) – The 139th Death Anniversary of Vasudev Balwant Phadke, the first revolutionary, was on 17th February. A procession with a Krantijyoti was taken out at his birthplace (Shirdhon) to observe his Death Anniversary. Naib Subedar Bharat Karnekar (from Indian Army and a son of Shirdhon village) and Mr Sujit Hatmode (from Palaspe) lit the Krantijyot. Every year the Krantijyot is taken to various places sanctified by the steps of the revolutionaries. In view of the corona pandemic, this year the procession was organised at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the village itself.
Exhibition commemorating heroism of revolutionaries organised by HJS
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised an exhibition of posters that depicted the heroism and patriotism of numerous revolutionaries. This exhibition awakened the memories of revolutionaries in the minds of the attendees.
