Even after settling in the UK after retirement, he continues receiving a monthly pension of rupees forty thousand. After the incident came to the fore, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had written a letter to the Director-General of Police (UP) asking for action. The incident took place in a Sahsrao Maphi village of the Khalilabad region in Sant Kabir Nagar District. Abdul Karim had complained that the Maulana Shamsul Hauda had taken British citizenship, yet, he was taking salary and pension as a Maulana of a Government-run madarasa.

(If the complaint had not been filed, then the incident would have never come to the fore – Editor) Karim had a suspicion of Samshul Hoda. Hence, he collected the information under the Right to Information Act.
Shamsul had taken up British Citizenship in the year 2013. Even then, he taught in Madarasa for four years and took voluntary retirement in the year 2017. He continued to take pension, which is in violation of Section 66 of the Constitution. As per the information, Hoda has cheated the Government of over Rupees 1 crore.
