Punjab CM criticised by Congress State President Navjot Singh Sidhu for slashing electricity rate

Commented on politicians giving ‘lollipop’ to the public (not fulfilling promises even after giving assurance) to win the election

Editorial Comment

Every political party announces to give something free to the public to win the election. This expenditure is not borne by the parties, but from the tax paid by the public, when will the public understand this ?

Chandigarh – The Chief Minister of the Congress Government in Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi has decided to slash the electricity rate by Rs.3 per unit; but Congress State President Navjot Singh Sidhu has commented on this decision saying it is an attempt to show the public ‘lollipop’ for the elections.

In a programme of the United Hindu Mahasabha in Punjab, Sidhu commented that did anyone speak about the welfare of the State of Punjab ? The Government just gives ‘lollipop’ and criticises saying this is useless, that is useless. What can be done in 2 months ? As the State assembly elections are going to be held later. How will they fulfil the assurances that are being given, questioned Sidhu.
