Dhaka (Bangladesh) – The Bangladesh security agencies arrested one more suspect in the case of anti-Hindu violence in Bangladesh. Shaikat Mandal, one of the masterminds behind the 17th October mayhem in the Pirganj Sub-District of north-western Rangpur and his accomplice were arrested from Gazipur on the outskirts of Dhaka. Mandal had gone live on Facebook, which incited people and triggered a wave of violence, informed the investigation officers. At least 70 houses and shops of the Hindus were torched in this attack.

His arrest came a day after the Police had nabbed Iqbal Hossain, who had placed the Quran at a Durga Puja venue in Cumilla. Hossain is currently placed under seven-day Police remand. So far, Police have arrested nearly 600 people from various parts of the country for inciting violence against the Hindus.
