CBI takes over probe into Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj’s death

Prayagraj (UP) – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into the death of Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj, President of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad. CBI has also filed an FIR in this case.

A six-member team has been formed to investigate the case. The Uttar Pradesh Police had earlier constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case; however, some Saints and Mahants had demanded the transfer of investigation to CBI. Accordingly, the decision has been made.
