Army’s decision after the drone attacks
West and North front to be established
New Delhi – We are going to establish a Maritime Command and an Air Defence Command, said Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in a special discussion with India Today. General Rawat said that this decision was taken in the wake of the recent drone attacks on the Army and air bases in Jammu.

- CDS General Rawat said, ‘Air Defence Command will be responsible for the safety of the airspace and will monitor fighter aircrafts, helicopters and drones. The Air Defence Command will be operational from 15th August and will be commanded by three-star rank officers’.
- To deal with the escalating crisis in the Indian Ocean, a Maritime Command will be set up, said General Rawat. The Maritime Command will be responsible to maintain the security of the Indian maritime region. The State Coast Guard, Indian Navy, and many other agencies are currently deployed to safeguard the maritime region of India. The Indian fishermen are also contributing in safeguarding our waters. The Maritime Command will work in coordination with all these.
