Police refuse to register FIR after the gangrape of a 60-year-old woman

Bengal post-poll violence

Victim files petition in the Supreme Court seeking investigation

  • The Police, refusing to register FIR after receiving the complaint, should be arrested and imprisoned for life
  • Apart from no law and order, people in Bengal are being denied justice as well. Given the fact, it is appropriate to promulgate Presidential rule there.
  • If this is the situation in Bengal even after having a woman CM, who will protect the women there ?

New Delhi – A 60-year-old Bengal woman was gangraped in front of her six-year-old grandson in a post-poll violence that took place in Bengal. After the Police failed to take any action against the accused, the victim moved to the Supreme Court seeking SIT probe into the matter.

The victim told the Court, ‘After the declaration of assembly poll results, TMC goons forced their way into my home in East Medinipur and looted the house. They also tied me to the bed and gangraped me. Following which, I fainted, and the neighbours admitted me to a hospital. The Police refused to register FIR regarding the incident’.

Gangrape of a 17-year-old girl

In another incident, a 17-year-old girl has accused TMC goons of gangraping her and has sought a CBI or SIT probe into the matter. She also demanded that her case be heard outside Bengal.
