Supreme Court’s judgement on the ECI appeal against Madras High Court

New Delhi – Madras High Court had held ECI responsible for the violation of the Covid regulations during recent assembly elections in 5 States in the country and passed the remark that ‘a crime of murder should be registered against ECI’. The ECI had appealed in the Supreme Court against it. While passing the judgement on this appeal the Supreme Court said, “the reaction of the Madras High Court is very harsh and inappropriate, and the language used based on case should have been sensitive to constitutional values. Similarly the ECI should have followed the Court order. Madras High Court indeed cannot include such reaction as a part of the judgement”.
Supreme Court to deliver its judgment today in the petition filed by Election Commission of India against the oral remarks of Madras High Court that the ECI was "singularly responsible for COVID second wave" and "should probably be booked for murder charges".@ECISVEEP pic.twitter.com/xYfIOcY6SJ
