Kolkata (Bengal) – Against the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic, Calcutta High Court has ordered a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers during Shri Mahakali Puja, Chhatpuja, Guru Nanak Birth Anniversary and Diwali. Instead, the Court remarked that it would be enough to light oil lamps or candles during these festivities for the well- being of people and in the wide public interest.
