M.P. Govt bans Chinese and other foreign-made firecrackers

Instead of the individual State Governments taking such actions, Why does the Central Government not implement the all-India ban on foreign-made firecrackers ?

Bhopal (M.P.) – BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh put a complete ban on storing, transporting, and sales of foreign-made firecrackers.  There is a complete embargo on the import of firecrackers, without a licence.

Dr. Rajesh Rajora, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of Madhya Pradesh Government said, ‘Director General Foreign Trade’ did not issue any permit to import Chinese firecrackers. Anyone breaking the law will face a penalty of two years imprisonment.  All District Collectors and Police Superintendents have received orders to this effect.

Earlier, at a high-level meeting, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan decided to ban Chinese firecrackers and their use in the State. He appealed to people to buy local products and earthen lamps. This will provide essential livelihood and income to local artisans.
