Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – A farmer named Pooranlal of Baitul district has been compensated by depositing Rs. 1/- in his bank account for the loss of Rs. 1,00,000/-, that he had incurred in agriculture. The Government has claimed that 22 lakh farmers have benefited under the Crop Insurance Scheme. The farmers are complaining that there is a huge difference between the actual loss incurred and the amount sanctioned.

(1). Another two farmers have received Rs. 70/- and Rs. 92/- as compensation.
(2). An official from the agricultural department, who requested anonymity, has said that the instances where the farmers received compensation less than Rs, 200/- are being discussed by the insurance companies.
