Stop the pension benefits of Justice Markandey Katju who testified before British Court that ‘Nirav Modi will not get justice in India’

H.H. (Adv.) Suresh Kulkarni demands with the Chief Justice of India

Markandey Katju

Aurangabad (Maharashtra) – Justice Markandey Katju, former Supreme Court Judge and Chairman of the Press Council of India recently deposed as a witness in favour of economic offender Nirav Modi. He said that Mr. Nirav Modi will not get justice in India.  Advocate before the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Bombay, Bench at Aurangabad, Founder Member of Hind du Vidhidnya Parishad and Secretary of High Court Bar Association H.H. (Adv.) Suresh Kulkarni wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court demanding stringent action against Mr. Katju, by way of withholding of his pension and retiral benefits. He has also written a similar letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting them to look into the matter.

H.H. (Advocate) Suresh Kulkarni

H.H. (Adv.) Suresh Kulkarni writes in His letter –

  1.  Nirav Modi is a fugitive conman, wanted by the Interpol and the Government of India for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonesty including the delivery of property, corruption, money laundering, fraud, embezzlement and breach of contract since August 2018. this statement which will deeply impact the extradition process.
  2.  Mr. Katju’s statement comes during the times when India is facing financial exigencies because of the Covid-19 pandemic which has taken a heavy toll on our economy. Nobody can deny the fact that the Government is taking all-round efforts to bring the economy to the path of success during these trying times. Here I would like to state that the general public of the nation too respects our judiciary as impartial and just and repose huge faith in the judicial system of our country.
  3. Similarly, he had pronounced about the Ayodhya verdict on the construction of Ram Temple. as shameful after the ADM Jabalpur judgment in 1976. In the past, Mr. Katju ate his own words and sought an apology to the Hon’ble Supreme Court for his negligent statement in the Mumbai Blast case.
  4. In the year 2016, a notice was issued against Mr. Katju for his blog, in which he allegedly used intemperate language against the judges of the apex court. He shouted at Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the then Presiding member of a three-judge Bench in Court 6 of the Supreme Court in respect of the sensational Sowmya murder and rape case of Kerala. Justice Gogoi had to ask the security personnel to escort Mr. Katju out of the packed courtroom.
  5. However, his present statement is completely unendurable since it shakes the entire judicial system of our country very badly. The investigation system of the country is in attack and it rocks the morale of those earnest and truthful government sleuths. The statements made by Mr. Katju seem to be deliberate and reeks of anti-national sentiments.
  6. I, therefore, request your Honour to take stringent action against Mr. Katju, say, withholding of his pension and retiral benefits so that it could become a paradigm model for the whole nation and persons like Mr. Katju dare not to play with the security of the nation.
