New Delhi – The Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case. The Court was hearing a plea filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty to transfer to Mumbai the FIR filed in Patna in connection with the case. The Maharashtra Government inquired about joining the hearing in the petition to review the order. The Supreme Court denied permission.
The apex court also upheld the FIR registered in Patna. SC also said, ‘any other FIR that will be registered in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death will also be investigated by the CBI. The Maharashtra Government should help the CBI in this probe.’
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence on 14th June. The pertinent question raised was whether it was suicide or murder. One and a half months later, the father of Sushant Singh Rajput K.K.Singh filed a case against Rhea Chakravarty with Patna Police. The Patna Police registered a criminal offence against her. Since the case was filed in Bihar, there was a rift among Bihar Police, Bihar Government, Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Government. The apex court heard arguments of all parties and ruled as above.
