Incident at Udupi (Karnataka)

Udupi (Karnataka): The minister had praised a Hindu girl who had converted to Islam for seeking help for her Hindu mother, but while doing so, she referred to her mother as a “neighbour”!
The BJP Mahila Morcha strongly criticised Congress District Liaison Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, stating that the BJP does not need lessons on brotherhood and communal harmony from a hijab-clad converted Hindu girl who misled society by referring to her own biological mother as ‘a woman living next door’ while appealing for help.
What was the issue?
A hijab-clad young woman and a burkha-clad woman brought a Hindu woman to meet the District Liaison Minister and requested that a site for a house be allotted to the poor Hindu woman, introducing her as their Hindu neighbour.
However, in reality, the poor woman, Girija Shettigar, had been brought to meet the minister by her own biological daughter, who had converted to Islam. The daughter falsely told the minister, “I am a neighbour of this Hindu woman,” thereby misleading the minister herself.
Without thinking the matter through, Lakshmi Hebbalkar proceeded to lecture BJP leaders of Udupi on communal harmony before the media and ultimately made a laughing stock of herself.
Udupi City BJP Mahila Morcha Chief Neeta Prabhu said, these hijab and Burqa-clad women who had been hurting the education system in schools and colleges until now have now gone and misguided the District Liaison Minister herself. It is now necessary to seriously think about the mentality of people who are like this person, who refers to her own mother as her neighbour just to get publicity.
