Crores of rupees embezzled under the guise of Hajj pilgrimage at Kondhwa, Pune

Director of ‘Al-Khalifa Tours & Travels’, Ameer Shaikh, absconds with family

Pune (Maharashtra) – A major financial fraud involving Muslim devotees intending to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage has been committed by an establishment named ‘Al-Khalifa Tours & Travels’ in the Kondhwa area of Pune. According to a report published on the Instagram handle ‘khabar_nama_punecity’, the director of the establishment, Ameer Shaikh, has absconded along with his family after collecting crores of rupees from devotees.

The pilgrims’ journey had been scheduled for 17th May; however, as the date of travel approached, the travel agency’s office was found closed and no contact could be established with Shaikh. Following the incident, the defrauded devotees approached Kondhwa Police Station. A case has been registered against Ameer Shaikh.
