BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant shot dead in Bengal

BJP accuses Trinamool Congress !

Kolkata (Bengal) – Chandranath Rath, personal assistant (PA) to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Bengal, was shot dead. The incident took place at Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district of Bengal. Buddhadeb, the driver accompanying Rath, was injured in the attack and has been admitted to a hospital. Chandranath Rath handled political coordination work for Suvendu Adhikari. Before entering politics, Rath had served in the Indian Air Force. Police have launched a search for the accused.

“This attack reflects the violent mentality of the Trinamool Congress over the years. A thorough investigation must be conducted into this case. There is a possibility of a larger conspiracy behind this attack,” BJP leader Nikhil Prasun said.

Conduct a CBI inquiry ! – Demand by Trinamool Congress

“We condemn the brutal murder of Chandranath Rath at Madhyamgram. We demand strict action in this case, including a CBI inquiry under court supervision. Murders of workers belonging to both BJP and Trinamool Congress should also be investigated.”

Sequence of the murder !

1. Chandranath Rath was travelling home in a Scorpio vehicle through the Doltala area of Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas at around 10.30 p.m. on 6 May.

2. The assailants arrived from behind on motorcycles and in a four-wheeler and forcibly stopped Rath’s vehicle. They opened indiscriminate fire on Rath, who was seated in the front passenger seat.

3. Bullets passed through the glass of the vehicle door and struck Rath and his driver. The attackers fled thereafter.

4. Rath sustained bullet injuries to the head, chest, and stomach. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. After examination, doctors declared him dead.

5. Following the incident, BJP workers staged a road blockade protest on National Highway 12. They demanded that the assailants be killed in an encounter.

6. The attackers arriving on motorcycles were wearing helmets, and the vehicle had no registration number. Police have seized the vehicle that blocked the Scorpio’s path at the scene. The number plate on that vehicle was found to be fake.

7. The assailants used a ‘Glock 47X’ pistol. Ordinary criminals do not use such sophisticated weapons. The style of the attack suggests that it may have been carried out by a professional shooter.

BJP worker also shot at

After the firing on Chandranath Rath, BJP worker Rohit Roy was shot at in Basirhat district at around 12.30 a.m. His condition is critical. Since the election results were declared on 4 May, 5 people have died in the State. Of them, 3 were associated with BJP and 2 with the Trinamool Congress.
