Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan, which is positioning itself as a mediator in the Iran–United States conflict and is expected to earn massive financial gains from such a role, is currently facing a severe shortage of LPG and electricity.
LPG plants in the country are reportedly on the verge of shutting down, as no vessels carrying LPG are reaching Pakistan. Power outages lasting more than seven hours a day have become frequent. In hospitals, surgeries are being postponed due to the lack of electricity. Pakistan’s Energy Minister, Owais Leghari, stated that disruptions in the international situation have affected gas supplies, resulting in reduced power generation and widespread outages.
Due to the electricity shortage, even major cities are experiencing power cuts of over seven hours daily. Power supply is also being disrupted at night. Markets are shutting down before 8 p.m. following government directives.
